Blount Construction, founded in 1946 by George C. Blount, a former Georgia DOT Engineer, and his son George, Jr., started with a focus on topsoil base roadway construction and surface treatment applications. In the 1950s, Blount became a pioneer of the soil cement base process in the Atlanta area. Blount Construction would put up a couple of asphalt plants around metro Atlanta and begin paving themselves. Thus, solidifying its reputation as a respected asphalt paving contractor.
